Leonteq is following the Federal Council’s appeal and has implemented several energy-saving measures to support efforts to secure energy supplies. The company has a task force in place, who, together with the Executive Committee, are jointly pursuing the goal of ensuring Leonteq’s contribution during these extraordinary times.
Fabian Muff, Head Procurement and Facility Management stated: “Environmental sustainability, and with it the conservation of energy usage is very important to Leonteq. We are aligning our efforts to those recommended by the Swiss Federal Council and supplementing them with additional voluntary measures, including raising awareness among our employees.”
At its headquarters in Zurich, Leonteq has switched off the illumination of its outdoor logos. The lights indoors are additionally switched off overnight unless they are required for safety reasons and all indirect lighting throughout the building has been switched off indefinitely with the long-term efficiency of energy in mind.
Computer and TV screens, as well as other desktop devices, have been programmed to run fewer hours during the day and to enter standby mode sooner.
Our Zurich office is already located in a building built and operated according to the Minergie building standard, which is a registered label for new and refurbished low-energy buildings. The emphasis is on creating comfortable working conditions while reducing energy consumption. Nevertheless, Leonteq has taken further steps to reduce its energy consumption when it comes to the heating of the office this winter and has reduced the office temperature by roughly three degrees Celsius to around 20°C. This is in line with the Federal Council’s recommendation.
Leonteq’s employees have been asked to be extra conscious of their use of lighting, dishware and elevator use throughout the office with the goal to less frequently run the elevators and dishwashers and to only illuminate rooms where staff is present.
Leonteq has worked to optimise its energy consumption since 2019 as part of its commitment to the cantonal target agreement (“Kantonale Zielvereinbarung”) to lower energy usage over the coming decade, and continues to make efforts towards energy optimization, efficiency and renewability. The electricity used to power our offices and data centres in Switzerland primarily comes from Swiss and European hydropower plants as well as from wind energy, biomass and solar energy, and is 100% renewable energy.
